 Fingerstyle - Set 1

Here's a small set of original fingerstyle pieces from past and present.
"Quand on est deux" is a piece written in the early 80s. My then girl-friend went to Paris for six months (that meant half a life to me... ;-) to improve her perfect French. Being a beginning student at the university I scraped my money together to visit her twice by train. Coming home the second time that song gave voice to the feeling of one week together with her...
"Rag for Richie" is for my dear friend Richard who accompanies my musical way for now two years and supports me in a way words can't describe... Some weeks ago he mentioned that he's a fan of the clarinet. O.k., I said, I'll see... that evening I sat down and that riff flew into my fingers. Sorry, this time there's no clarinet, but it's my first ragtime and it's for him. Thanks, Richard!
"Moon's Eve" is a piece written around that time of "Quand on est deux". There's no special meaning about the title, it's just an ID born from the fact that it was Monday evening when I started to play that tune.
In 2007 I had the idea for a small riff for one of my guitar students. Some months later I used these harmonies for a song called "Autumn leave", a love song from the lower open end of the happy endings scale. Several other pieces were inspired by that riff, and here is the instrumental version of "Autumn leave" (the melody slightly differs from the vocal version).

Frank Harper - Classics - Set 2
Classics - Set 2

This album is dedicated to the Spirit of Jamendo - and to this lovely, embracing and warm-hearted community. Thank you to my comrades of "Save Jamendo!", it has made us friends.

And to everybody who doesn't know what I'm talking about, watch here:

http://savejamendo.wordpress.com/

Once again I want to say "thank you" - so much! My first set of classical pieces met such a surprising response and achieved so many encouraging reviews, I was stunned. But not too
long... ;-) ... and then I sat down and recorded another six pieces from Bach...

A note of warning to all the connoisseurs and purists: I do ignore musical scores and habits. My only guide line are the feelings triggered by a piece. Some of those little tunes are played in a meditative temper and are accordingly slow...

The first track is a somewhat well-known piece of Bach. The D minor prelude BWV 999, originally written for lute, is a showpiece for many guitarists. Just like the C major prelude I released on Set I it's a kind of harmonic study or etude consisting of running through fractured chords.

The following five pieces are from the second "Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach". These are music books compiled by Bach and his wife Anna Magdalena. By listening to these pieces, you may get a glimpse of what has been family music in the early 18th century.

Enjoy - and stay on good terms with Jamendo!

Heavenly Walk

Edit: sound enhanced versions of these tracks are available on my album "I"
Two pieces for relaxation, meditation, smooching... or whatever you want... ;-)
The title track, Heavenly Walk, might tell you that your existence solely happens in that immeasureable tiny moment of presence. But most of the time your thoughts are far away in the past or future. Try to concentrate your awareness to where you are, and the string of moments will become a sequence of conscious steps changing life from a breathless rush to a pleasing heavenly walk...
Still Unspoken is another child of that mood which lead to my prior album, Words Unspoken. It started as a simple meditative improvisation on keyboard not intended for release (some might say that this would have been the better decision... ;-) ...). But after listening I think of it as a piece that's able to open up spaces... somehow unsteady in the beginning .... then thoughts and  feelings become clearer, opening out in a romantic dialogue of guitar and piano.
Hope, you enjoy it.

Words Unspoken

Edit: a sound enhanced version of the ambient mix is available on my album "I"
If you meet someone in a situation that doesn't  allow you to express what you feel, you are fortunate being a musician because you just sit down letting it flow. The ambient version of Words Unspoken emerged like that. And because she is a fan of electro pop it was fun to pop the riff into another suit. Though the lyrics reveal the impact to my heart a wink went along the emergence of the song. So you are invited to share that smile, or, if you want to, the tear hidden inside the words now announced.

The Fire
This is my first shot at Jamendo, a kind of rock ballad with a flamenco style prelude and a dominant electric guitar in the main part. There is no special intention behind, it just evolved from the organ riff in urgent need for a guitar solo. Enjoy!
Listen to "The Fire" being used as background music!
