The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is a "non-profit" organization used by its corporate members to pen legislation that serves their own interests. ALEC members include Pfizer, Bank of America, Koch Industries, AT&T, ExxonMobil, Kraft Food, Walmart, Johnson & Johnson, Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline, State Farm Insurance, and Coca Cola. On February 29, 2012, Occupy Wall Street joined more than 80 other Occupations around the country to protest this abuse of the American democratic system.
