Dear constant listener,
after a short exploration into the realms of ragtime and folk music,
it's now back to jazz, swing and ballads. Here you'll find seven new,
original tracks as well as trio versions of two previously published
titled. I hope you'll enjoy the new electronic piano as I do: it brings
the level of expressivity to a level that no Midi patch can ever reach.
In the new titles I've pushed the harmonic reasearch one step
further, although with no specific method or intent. So you'll find some
polytonality, atonality, modalities (like blues on the first track).
Also the trio version of Anatole N°1, originally written in
1997 and previously published in DOTGT, features an alternate melody
that I wrote on the same chord progression awhile back. Then again, the
new electronic piano provided the magic it needed, plus the impro has a
more reasonable length.
The album title has a sense of coming back home after the somewhat
foreign territory I explored with in the previous album. Why the rain
then ? Well, when it's pouring outside you find the confinement of a
jazz bar or your piano room much more enjoyable than when the sun is
bright - even if you like to catch some dust that sparkles in its rays.
As usual, you'll find the free PDF score sheets at Free-Scores.com.
If you wish to purchase the album or just some tracks in CD quality, you can do that on my Bandcamp website.
With love,
RVG
