Mùsica : Fighting Lion

When I see the fallen leaves turning red by the setting sun my heart is overwhelmed EP
Fighting Lion is Álvaro Menéndez from Spain. His debut EP, “When I see the fallen leaves turning red by the setting sun my heart is overwhelmed,” folds five songs into a concise album under eight minutes in length. Each track consists of Menéndez's ukulele playing and accompanying drum machine. The EP starts with “Place by the sea,” recalling memories of forgotten seasides. “Wandering” is a reflective stroll down the street you grew up on. “Dawn” is the soundtrack to waking up, eyes wide and early, on a beautiful day. “Wood” reminds one of the ukulele work on Beirut's “Gulag Orkestar.” The EP ends so shortly after it began with “Gold Summer,” a plucked, quiet piece that beckons the listener's mind towards longing for those golden summer days of childhood. Fighting Lion's debut is a sweet, rose-tinted snapshot. The music's childlike sense of remembrance is sure to stay on heavy rotation all summer long.
